Club Mission Statement

The Rotary Club of Harrisonville is a civic organization that strives to serve the community of Harrisonville and beyond wherever there is a need. We are made up of caring individual business leaders who give of their time and expertise to complete projects that need us. Our purpose and mission as Rotarians in Harrisonville can be summed up in the phrase


 “SEE THE NEED, DO THE DEED”

Rotary has touched many lives in its more than 45 years of service to our community. Here are just a few of our current and past service projects.

Flag program

Rotary displays the American flag on 6 major holidays throughout the year to subscribing businesses and organizations.

Scholarships

Rotary awards four $750 scholarships annually to Harrisonville High School and Cass Career Center seniors.

Playground equipment

Rotary help finance and build the Rotary Playground at North Park. We have helped purchase ADA accessible playground equipment and made a further $25,000 commitment for additional equipment.

Rock Ford School Living History Classroom

Rotary and charter member John Foster spearheaded the 1999 relocation of the Rock Ford rural school to provide a Living History Classroom on the grounds of McEowen Elementary School.

Picnic shelters

Rotary constructed new picnic shelters at Lord’s Park and City Park.

Trunk or Treat on the Square

Rotary co-sponsors the annual safe Halloween Trunk or Treat event on the Harrisonville Square with the Parks & Recreation Department.

Young Professional Awards

Rotary sponsors the Cass Career Center’s junior Young Professional of the Month Award and provides a $25 voucher to the recipient.

Service Above Self Awards

Rotary promote the ideal of service among young students by sponsoring Service Above Self Awards each month at Harrisonville Elementary and McEowen Elementary schools. Recipients receive popcorn and a movie pass.

Bright Futures Classroom Partner

Rotary holds regular activities based on community service with Mrs. Jiminez’s 4th grade class at McEowen Elementary School.

 

Rotary Youth Exchange

Over many years, our club has participated in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, hosting students from other countries and sending local students to live and study abroad with Rotarian families around the globe.

Shop With a Cop

Each December, Rotarians wrap gifts for some 200 Shop With a Cop participants.

Little Free Libraries

Rotary constructed Little Free Libraries placed them at various public locations in Harrisonville.

The Rotary Train

One of the most visible service projects is the Rotary Train, which provides free rides to young people during public events like the Log Cabin Festival and Christmas on the Square.

North Park Arena

Rotary helped reconstruct and light the arena at North Park and played a significant role in constructing the nearby Activity Center building.

Family Center Farm & Home Dog Park

Rotary contributed to the construction of the dog park at City Park, with a major contribution provided by Family Center Farm & Home, owned by Rotarian Bill Mills.

Casco Area Workshop annual picnic

Rotary serves lunch to more than 200 employees and staff of the Casco Area Workshop for their annual picnic at North Park.

Youth Leadership

Rotary annually sends local students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, Boys State and Girls State.
